Secondly, my observations/? [in no particular order]:

1. With the iMic-based audio option purchased from SGI, I got

Since my iMic failed, I got from SGI an official replacement, called TELEX, but after installation, although it works ok, now I get

What does "number -1" exactly mean?

2. Why do I get the following two /equal/ entries in <hinv -vm>, although I've nothing at all plugged-in:

     PCI Adapter ID (vendor 0x1000, device 0x0030) PCI slot 3
     PCI Adapter ID (vendor 0x1000, device 0x0030) PCI slot 3


3. I disabled environment monitoring because after installing 6.5.28m, I got configmon (included in ESP) core dumps after /every/ startup; SGI's temporary workaround is

#configmon -Sk /* resulting in loss of ESP hardware/software configuration data */

or

#chkconfig esp off

Since I don't really need ESP anyway, I'd disabled it [of course, once SGI has fixed the problem, I'll enable it again].

4. Why does <configmon -h> show R14000 [in SEQ 6] and not R16000?

5. Seems SGI is confused: plain <hinv>, <uname -aR> and <configmon -i> all show IP35 [which actually is for an Origin3000 proper] instead of IP34 [as in <configmon -h> or <hinv -vm>] which would be correct for a FUEL [of course, the FUEL is an Origin3000 derivate, but still: if you would need a replacement, IP35 would be wrong].

Well looking at the PCI database, that's a LSI Logic LSI53C1020/1030 PCI-X to Ultra320 SCSI Controller, which of course makes sense due to this part of your hinv:

Integral SCSI controller 3: Version LS1030, low voltage differential
Integral SCSI controller 2: Version LS1030, single ended


So it looks like you've got some kind of additional SCSI card installed in there since this is in addition to the standard built-in QLA12160 U160 channels (which your hard drive/optical drive are currently connected to). Kind of interesting actually as I wasn't aware of any U320 cards that worked on IRIX before now - looks like the LSI Logic LSI21320/LSI22320 cards would be a strong candidate for further experimentation :)

Well, I did make some inquiries with SGI support and learnt that the card is officially listed as

PCIX-SCSI-U4-2P


But since the Fuel PCI-bus is limited to 66Mhz, my card will most probably not run much faster than an U160. :(

As my Fuel was actually a demo machine before I got it, maybe the above card is just a left-over after some experimentation (instead of the normal PCI-SCSI-U3-2P).
