Software raid on IRIX?

Does IRIX come with software raid? (Is there a way to configure software raid on IRIX?)

Yes, it's a licensed software for RAID1 and above, RAID0 is not licensed... It's called XLV/XVM...

What do you mean by licensed? Does this software for raid 0 come with IRIX or do you need to buy it?

both xlv and xvm come with irix but aren't installed by default. xlv is rather obsolete and only there for backward compatibility - i highly recommend xvm these days. Install eoe.sw.xvm (and sysadm_xvm if you want the GUI for it) and get the xvm guide from techpubs:

striping (raid0) and concat are free, mirroring (raid1) is only available if you got the plexing license though (thrue for both xlv and xvm)
