the 'development team' never took SGI into consideration; only Ton did, and only when his machine was an indigo2 max impact. it's been the efforts of one of two people cleaning it up enough to compile on IRIX for nearly the last decade that's made it even possible to run on IRIX anymore.

Would be great to seriously try this new version on an SGI but I just cant see the filenames when trying to load a scene.....!

Here's the output form the console :

It ends up that the Iconv error was actually an error in the Blender coding that has been fixed for the next version (so I am told).

I am working on compiling the RC versions of 2.44. I am having a little issue at the moment, but in the next week or two expect to see the latest version.

Thanks for the continued support!

Here is the RC1 version of Blender 2.44. The file issue and Iconv issue are taken care of in this version (as far as I know).

The official link will be up on Blender.org by tomorrow, but until then you can get it from here:

http://www.jarndyce.org/blender-2.44RC1 ... ps.tar.bz2

I will probably modify the link above once it is available from Blender.org, but I thought I would give everyone a head start.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Thanks,
Charles

Charles to the rescue! :P
Although i still suck at working with Blender (so much to do, so little time), it gives me a fuzzy feeling knowing that Irix-Blender's not at the end of the road yet :)

Nice! Anyone know if there are any test/sample .blend files for SSS out there yet?

Here are the regression test files:

http://download.blender.org/demo/test/test244.zip

They have been updated to include a quick and simple SSS test.

Let me know what you find!

I got this error when I tried to render a scene with yafray :
