No doubt it's a thing of beauty but in other news I copied the vfs file Neko posted in this thread for his Dell 2407WFP and, miracle of miracles, it works perfectly with my Dell U2412M! I am now just as happy as though I were in my right mind!

When my Indy comes home, I'll have to use it with an old 17" SyncMaster 700p CRT...old, failing, but the only POS I own that does SoG. Yeah, I could build a sync separator, but I'm a lazy asshat, was bummed enough having to make a 13W3-HD15 cable

I'm just using one of these commercial ones, the IT department at work threw them out by the basketload when they got rid of all our SGI monitors. That's my poor blurry old Sun X7136A behind it...

No such luck here - all my equipment but the two SGI is HD15. 13W3 (and big workstations) are quite rare where I live, so finding a commercial adaptor was harder than grabbing the salvaged cable off a dead Sun monitor I found at the University and grafting a VGA connector to the other end. I wish I could've grabbed the whole monitor, but it was a heavy mess of broken, brittle plastic. The SPARCstation IPX that lived with it got discarded before I could grab it :/

I bought my X7136A for practically nothing from the now long-defunct workstationsetc.com, and was beyond astonished when it showed up brand new and unused in the original packaging, without a scratch on it. I have one other Sony Trinitron CRT, a Multiscan 17SF, also in mint condition, behind it is my 1991 Pentium 90 which happily runs Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6, for the sole purpose of running my almost as old HP Scanjet 6300C...

I diddled around with it for the better part of two days before I noticed Neko's file. Turns out I had everything right except the Vertical Back Porch, according to my monitor's modeline it should be 26 but that wouldn't compile, for some reason Neko had his at 24 and that worked, but I don't know why it did or why mine didn't...

The VFC compiler requires the Vertical Backporch be reduced by 2 pixels, hence the reduction from 26 to 24.

Ah! I see it now, in the Pastas pdf (which I was trying to follow), it says "Vertical Back Porch = 36 It is a VFC requirement that the V_Back_Porch gets written decreased by 2, compared to what it actually is."

Would be better if he also said that at the top where he first defines the vertical back porch as the V4 minus V3 subtraction from the modeline...
