How do I invoke single user mode?

Command-S while starting up. Once you get a prompt you can proceed to mount the volumes and then run the passwd command.

@irinikus: What an unusual G5! My dual processor G5 has different processor covers than yours and the dual-core G5s usually have a one piece cover, so perhaps you have the legendary G5 Quad!

Yeah that is a water cooled quad. Ive had a few G5 Macs... They're good for space heating but not much else.

No I don't think so, look at the PCI-X slots, the 11,2 type G5 Power Macs have PCI Express. This is most likely one of the first G5 Power Macs (type 7,2 or 7,3 from 2004).

I agree, it was sold to me as a dual 800MHz G5 (one of the initial models)

I will only be able to test it and know what it’s specs are for sure, when I next return to Cape Town in the next few months.

I've had this system since early February 2014 and it's my daily driver. (My only system thats in daily use)

Despite what people have to say about these machines, for me, it's been an extremely positive experience.

My system is the entry-level configuration and even tough this is the case, it has served me extremely well, and will serve me for the required five-year period that I expect from it. (I only expect to buy the next system in 2019).

As for PC, I'm just hating it! I don't think I will buy another PC ever again. Let's see what Apple brings to the table with the Mac Pro 2018?

Next time I will order a custom built MAC Pro; one which gives me the best core speed to cache ratio, with the best graphics they have available.

This system was bought as a test system to see if I would like to use Apple instead of PC and the results proved favourable in my opinion. (It hasn't given me quarter of the problems that my PC has given me.)

Apple ease of use and sophistication has kids, mum & dad hooked.

Trivial aside I did top config price check on new iMac Pro and it came to nearly AUD $20,000 !!!

Ouch... maybe we are not dedicated enough, that is a hell of an expensive machine.
Waiting to see how new Mac Pro pans out price/performance wise.

As you well know from using these products, performance (the numbers generated by benchmarks) are not the only thing of importance, there are some aspects that simply can't be measured numerically and need to be experienced to be appreciated. (How much of a pleasure is it to use?)
