Compiled and flashed git version of Coreboot (after days of research (I had to start from scratch), getting configs right, borrowing some stuff from libreboot, etc)

I have just flashed Libreboot to a T400, and filmed the entire process. Video coming soon!

In an effort to reduce the amount of racket going up through my workshop ceiling and into the dining room above I have installed a buttload of foam panelling.

I had to spray it all with a bitterant in the hopes the mice don't start making a home out of it. I cann't get the taste off my hands. I want to eat junk food right now but it tastes so baaaad! ;_;

That stuff they put in compressed air cans. Which are great for shooting upside down at CNC bits when milling plastic like ABS. Keeps the work piece from melting into a congealed mess on the bit. Just don’t do it before lunch, like the opposite of swimming.

Running the Sprite OS (Ousterhout, et al) for the first time in gxemul. Because somebody at work made a remark the other day about how amazing some framework doing jail/container migration was, and it triggered nerdrage about process migration in distributed systems from the 1980s and 90s (Sprite, V, Locus, Aleph/Accent/Mach...) being completely forgotten.

Backporting the new VSX acceleration in libpng to VMX/AltiVec. It actually required very few changes, mostly to deal with a couple new VSX intrinsics that AltiVec doesn't have.

What makes you say that? I'd love to hear about any experiences with anything other than that disk image from the GitHub repo. I'm not sure if pieces are missing, but from the command line cc/gcc won't compile anything.

Well maybe, but I decided I didn't like the fact that GXemul was using one core of my desktop 100% even when the Sprite system was idle, so I just stopped it for the time being.

I have not used Sprite in the last 20+ years, but I remember that, at least in our use case, the system was extremely slow and depending too much upon the network (and it was running on 10MBit/s Ethernet systems, of course) - there was no real difference between diskless systems (no local cache) and systems using the local cache. Before NFSv3 (or NFSv2 + prestoserve accelerators) this would have been acceptable because NFS was slow, too. But NFSv3 changed the game, and Sprite could not catch up.
