What model of Seasonic? Ideally, the first post in this thread, or somewhere, should maintain a list of known, guaranteed ok PSUs that one can use with the adapters. One problem with nekochan is a lot of relevant info is incredibly fractured, and finding it often difficult due to the way the search function works. Infact, even searching for this thread brought up a different thread first. :D

The exact model is: Seasonic SS-500ET
But any similar modern PSU around 500Watts (combined) should work juust fine..
And my Fuel is loaded (V12, 800MHz, 2x DVD Drives, 2x HDDs).
Just pick a "good" brand and no need to worry about the 3.3V or 5V max load of the original Fuel's WTX PSU.
I know the max wattage one is able to draw from these 3.3V and 5V lines of the modern PSUs is a bit lower than the original, but the machine doesn't consume such high amperage from these lines anyway.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!! I found two variants, the Seasonic SS-500ET-T3 and the Seasonic SS-500ET-F3, which one is your unit?

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I can't say cause I got it without any sort of manuals etc..
Just a box with the unit.
This link points to where I got it from: https://www.ekos.gr/product/ss_500et_bulk92
At least all the specs are there (in Greek though :P)

The F3 has 4x SATA, the T3 has 6x SATA, so it looks like you have the F3. Thanks!

I'm wondering whether the Thermaltake Toughpower units I have would work ok...

If you have some spare psu available, testing would be very quick, I think

I'll root around, see what I have stashed away.

I strongly believe that any 500W PSU from a reputable manufacturer will work fine.
Corsair, Seasonic, XFX, Thermaltake, EVGA are some examples of such makers.

Just wanted to confirm that a Corsair CX600 power supply works fine. Those Seasonic supplies have terrible reviews.

I forgot about this; will look at it again after the new year madness has subsided. :}

As per my first post in years (hi all! ;)) my Fuel's PSU seems to have died while the machine's been safely stored in a nice heated room :(

What's currently the best way to get hold of an ATX convertor to replace a Sparkle PSU (Ian? :)), and what (modular?) PSUs are currently available that can provide enough power on the 3.3V/5V rails *and* still have molex connectors and the right assortment of ATX connectors?

(Also, as per that post, is there anyone in Cambridge, London, or elsewhere in the UK who'd be able to help me confirm that it *is* the PSU, rather than anything else? The machine (including the L1 port with power applied via the WTX PSU) is dead as a doornail, so it's /probably/ the PSU... but that's still an assumption)

Thanks,

stuart
