Sir, you are completely right! These stickers are a blast!

Especially the big red sticker for the side panel! Do you still have some of these around to spare?

Can't remember if I mentioned it here before or not.

But Alphaserver DS10, 466MHZ, running VMS 8.4, with Compaq Esoniq sound card, 256MB RAM, Oxygen 2D accelerator and one 137GB SCSI hard drive. With the right software it will play WAV and MP3 files, but video playback is awful with the stone age multimedia tools provided by HP. :)

Compaq Creative Labs AudioPCI Card. Has to have the Ensoniq 1373 chip.

I bought mine from Island Computers so that I didn't have to worry about getting the wrong one. They are selling for $10.00 currently. A real bargain. :)

They're frequently on ebay for that much or less as well, I think it was the standard Compaq PC audio card of the era. I have one that was 99 cents plus shipping, sadly only one PCI slot available on a DS10L and that's for the Radeon. :)

I have an early DEC Alpha here, the DEC AXP 3000-600. It has a crossbar made of 6 ASICS, and a 256 bit memory bus. http://www.psych.usyd.edu.au/pdp-11/alpha_specs.html

Nice, I wonder what results STREAM would yield on your machine. What OS are you running on it?

Sadly, I still did not took the time to do some stuff with this machine, but I looked also at the STREAM benchmarks. (http://www.cs.virginia.edu/stream/by_na ... width.html)

It seems to reach 90-100 MB/s, which is about the same with the Indigo2 10K 195MHz. The Benchmark even see it at the same position as a mediocre Pentium1 PC, which makes me wonder. On the other side, I see that 166Mhz Pentiums were introduced 4 years later.

The Indigo2 and the Pentium are a few years newer.

Hardware became obsolete far more quickly in those days.

It’s one hell of an interesting looking architecture nonetheless.

I have several vintage HP/DEC/Compaq hardware items. Here are some pictures of my DECstation 5000/133. Full 128MB RAM and a PMAG-F board. It was working (Ultrix) last time I powered it up. I'd have to look up the passwords again or boot into single user mode to reset them since it's been a while I've used it.

Picked up a VAXStation 4000 VLC from a recycler who knew they were valuable. I paid him $50 for it as we couldn't test it. It looks decent enough. Needs a new Dallas chip and probably some other work.

Nice getting into the DEC business. I guess you are gonna run VMS on there?
