I'm fairly sure there was an Unreal Tournament (99) for PPC. I vaguely recall trying it on a G4 iBook.

Yeah it was, LAN parties in High School had PPC versions of UT playing with x86/Win32 clients.

I think UT PPC was ported only to Mac OS X.

I could have sworn my buddy with his G3 iMac/Voodoo2 had Mac OS 9.2 running it.

Given how the PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii are all PPC-based machines, I'd say your list of games is rather incomplete.

I'm pretty sure this is just a list of commercial Linux PPC/SPARC/Alpha games. If you wanted to list every commercial game ever written for a certain instruction set (regardless of OS/machine), it would be an interesting (although completely pointless) exercise to see which ISA had the most games.

  • MIPS: PSX, N64, PS2, PSP?
  • PPC: Mac, X360, PS3, GC, Wii?
  • 68K: Mac, Genesis, Amiga, Atari ST?

(Obviously I'm excluding Windows/x86, which would win this handily)

I just want to point out that LGP ported Soul Ride to Linux Alpha and Sparc. There is not information about these versions on the cover of this game, but I found them on CD with the game.

Since we're grave-digging: Unreal Tourney PowerPC started on OS 9, and Westlake later issued an OS X beta which has most, but not all, features of the OS 9 version (for example, no background music).

This list also is missing Shogo -- I'm pretty sure Hyperion did a PowerPC Linux version. They definitely did Amiga and Mac OS 9 ports (I own the latter; it will not run in Classic).

From what I can tell, the (never finished) SGI port of Quake III was "commercial", by Loki at any rate.

I checked it. I did not find this version on the CD with the game, and I also checked their new, and old website. Unfortunately, I think they only ported Sin to Linux PowerPC and Gorky 17 to Linux PowerPC which was published by LGP.

Now that I'm thinking about it (funny coming back to a thread a few years later), Return to Castle Wolfenstein was ported to Linux and PPC (Aspyr). Aspyr also did PPC ports of Star Trek: Elite Force and Elite Force II which were Quake 3 engine based games.

I remember the fun of running out to Software Etc at a LAN party back in 2001/2002 to pickup the PPC version of Elite Force for that same iMac/Voodoo 2 guy.

Yep, I have Elite Force on OS 9. It runs ... okay in Classic, but it really doesn't like to. However, it performs very nicely on my OS 9 7300+G4/800 and MDD+dual 1.8. That's probably my second favourite Trek game after, of course, Star Trek 25th Anniversary (DeForest Kelley's last performance as Bones, sniffle).

25th Anniversary was great, loved Judgement Rites and Starfleet Command too. It's unfortunate Secret of Vulcan Fury never made it out the door and Kickstarter wasn't around to complete it since I believe all dialogue was recorded.
