Post necromancy again,
My Octane2 is having the "lost battery back up clock" issue, I just ordered samples from maxim(dallas), and looked into the Octane2's M/B - it seems to sit in a socket, this means replacement should be a piece of cake.

Hi the Dallas chip on my Octane2 just crapped out also, what part number did you buy from Maxim to replace yours? Do you know if it's the same part for an Octane2. I mean, as it is for an Octane? Thanks...

The same chip is used in Fuel, O2, Octane, Octane2 and I don't have any more hardware in Tokyo to look at but I would assume everything after introducing O2/Octane uses the same one.
