Yesterday a Nekochan member kindly gave me an old Supermicro server. I plan to use this machine quite a lot, because it turns out that I have a pair of Pentium 4 Xeon HT at 3 ghz around and also quite a lot of memory. This is the motherboard of the guy:

It has an IDE controller and an Adaptec AIC-7899W controller for Dual-Channel Ultra160 SCSI. So, my plan is to use one of the PCI slots to put a card with SATA ports and install some modern hard disk drives on the server to store my data. However, I have a question regarding the HDD for the operating system and the applications. Do you think that it would be worth it to install 2x70Gb SCSI HDDs in RAID 0? I could even install a 0/1 RAID with four units. The noise and power consumption are not a problem, the server will be in a open office and I will not have to suffer it

Thank you!
