Just fired up the O2 to update pidgin and gcc.
gcc 4.6.2 is compiling (it will take hours, specially the tests) so I can't try to compile this interesting app:

Eeek. Reading the requirements, seems like an Irix build would be hard.

There are some MIPSpro patches for Boost in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6782&p=7281231

Not sure if it works against the latest version or not, but might be worth a look.
