NVRAM battery dead on Ultra 5

Unread postby thosch97 » Sat Jan 07, 2012 1:51 am

Sun Ultra 5/10 UPA/PCI (UltraSPARC-IIi 440MHz), No Keyboard
OpenBoot 3.31, 192 MB (60 ns) memory installed, Serial #1238224559.
Ethernet address cb:e6:cd:e2:ac:46, Host ID: c9cdceaf.

The IDPROM contents are invalid

It seems like the battery of the NVRAM is dead. Can I somewhere get a replacement chip?
I backed up the output of the Banner, ok .version, ok printenv and /usr/sbin/prtconf -vp on SunOS 5.9 when it was still working. That should be enough to reprogram it, shouldn't it? How do I reprogram it?

Look up "squirrels SUN NVRAM faq". You can either hack in a 3V battery to your existing MOSTEK chip (also look up) or on newer Sun archs replace.
