Indy serial ports and ADB

Unread postby Clico Fantastico » Thu Nov 24, 2011 1:46 pm

Are Indy serial ports a.k.a "mac type" actually the same as ADB ports on Macs ? What I'm trying to find out is, if Mac dedicated Wacom tablets (models ending with A) can be connected to Indy directly (no adapters) ?

No they are the same as Macintosh serial ports and are actually serial ports. They a 7 or 8 connectors, whereas ADB have four. Also ADB is a bus.

Also, ADB cables are equivalent to S-video cables, and Indys do have an S-video port, so be sure that you are not confusing the serial ports with the S-video port. (Of course, aside from using the same type of cables, S-video ports and ADB ports are completely different species.)
