Stock CPU fan on my V100 was very rickety and noisy, lubrication didn't give much sense. So i did the same mod (note the comment there, too):
http://translate.google.com/translate?j ... auto&tl=en . Since then, it's quite as hell

Since i got board only, i never used additional fans, i run it 24/7 on open air: I/O chips, networks chips, IDE controller e.t.c. are no more than calid, but never hot, no problems at all. If you have a chassis, you may need just passive heatsinks, to be sure. With GX700/GX710 Zerotherm cooler package you will give bulk of small heatsinks included (as bonus), affordable for covering V100's chips.
