Both are maxed-out in my case: C8000 came maxed-out and rx2600 i maxed by myself. As for C8000: supported video-option is better there - ATI FireGL X3 (for IA64 you're stuck with X1, which occupies two slots ), processor option is interesting, comparing with IA64 - i have 2x dual-core PA8900 (so 4 cores in total, in rx2600 i have 2 cores) with huge caches, another very cool thing is that i got C8000 with full room of RAM, rare 4 Gb PC2100 modules in 8 slots total - 32 Gb at all, so C8000 is ideal for HPUX`ing For rx2600: integrated ATI 7000 on iLO MP card is a nice bonus (it's supported by OpenVMS DECWindows for example), i have an AGP riser option also: so outstanding graphics for HP-UX (up to ATI FireGL X1), Windows and Linux is there. CPU option is unique of course (EPIC architecture, opportunity to run unique systems like: Windows/IA64 and OpenVMS finally, nice threading and productivity with dual 1.5 Ghz / 6M L3 cache CPUs), room space for RAM is also awesome: 12 slots, up to 24 Gb officially, up to 48 Gb (!) un-officially (should be, i checked by moving 8x 4 Gb sticks from my C8000 there, remaining 4x slots were filled with 2 Gb sticks - and i got 44 Gb working there ), but for 48 Gb i wasn't be able to find cheap 4 Gb kits at all, so stayed with 2 Gb modules.

Thought about it, came near to getting a LSI-11, then discovered emulation. With simh you can play around with a -11 and not have to worry about finding a working disk setup or other bits of old, delicate and/or rare hardware. With SIMH, KLH10 and Hercules I can have a -11, -10 and a 370 in one convenient desktop (or even laptop).

I'd forgo the VT100 though... (and remember the agony of VT52's at college even in the 90's!..) in favour of emulation at the terminal end!

I have a DEC Personal Workstation 500au running OpenVMS 8.3 and a HP zx6000 (dual Itanium2) that's currently sitting idle wing to being very power hungry and hot running.

Both with appropriate keyboard, monitor etc.. in working condition with HPUX10.20.

HP C8000, I paid +/- 150 €, but still looking for HPUX11.11

Who is paying the power bill ?

Currently I have an Alpha PC164 400Mhz 128Mb that was my personal server/firewall for many years. For that it ran NetBSD but I also toyed with OpenVMS and Tru64. It ran everything like a champ except for earlier builds of OpenBSD that would always freeze after a day or so. Later ones didn't seem to do this.

I bought a VAXstation 3100 M38 for $40 on ebay and later sold it for like $120.

Brought home a MicroVAX II one time complete with a QBUS SCSI card. Got bored and eventually scrapped it. Now I realize how big a mistake that was.

Pick up an HP box at a hamfest and didn't realize it ran MPE/IX. Scrapped it too because the guys on the forum were dicks about me not having a license for getting the system/root/whatever password.

Bought a PDP-11/23 not realizing my limits for operating systems. Donated it to a fellow collector.
