Looks like I never introduced this one :)

This is a former Discreet Flame station.

It's got a RAD audio board, a PCI card with two extra serial ports, a dual GBit network adapter, two dual 2GBit QL2342 Fibre Channel boards, and of course the DM3. It also came with a DMediaPro breakout box with DM5 installed. The FC disk box with Discreet 'STON+WIR' disks was apparently used with it.

It turns out that when reset, the WD33C93 defaults to a SCSI ID of 0, and it was simpler to leave it that way... -- Dave Olson, in comp.sys.sgi

I too am looking for a house to properly house the collection. I'm having nightmares over house prices here, but I guess the Netherlands are even worse.

I'm not going to buy a new house, I want to build an annex. There's nothing wrong with our current house, except that I had to give up my computer room when we had our second son. So right now my collection is split between the attic (cramped and dusty due to the washing machine & laundry dryer), and garage (not a bad garage as far as garages go, but obviously sub-optimal).

A new annex is hopefully going to provide a permanent home for my collection, and a clear separation between family life and hobby, so I won't need to worry that my boys will be harmed by the computers (or vice versa).

Now that I have the Tezro, I more or less have a sample of every MIPS/IRIX generation (family?). Good thing they stopped making them, or I would need a mansion instead of an annex :lol: Let's see:

Finally found back the box of O3K DIMMs that had been missing for half a year :roll: So now the tezro has 8GB RAM. I added a DCD as well.

It turns out that when reset, the WD33C93 defaults to a SCSI ID of 0, and it was simpler to leave it that way... -- Dave Olson, in comp.sys.sgi
Currently in commercial service: Image :Onyx2:(2x) :O3x02L:
In the museum: almost every MIPS/IRIX system.
Wanted: GM1 board for Professional Series GT graphics (030-0076-003, 030-0076-004)

I have no idea (not a Discreet user), but if you look around you'll see that all these (former) Discreet systems have more or less the same cards installed:

(the picture shows a single port ethernet card, but they always seem to be dual port, like my system)

Related to the license system?

If the license is linked to a MAC address maybe is easy to move the license with the ethernet card? But is pure speculation.

That's not it. Discreet software is node locked with a dongle attached to one of the serial ports.

Maybe it has something to do with a dedicated network segment for rendering nodes or frame storage.
