Thought I'd introduce myself and share some photos of my disasterous (late to the party) entry to SGI at the same time
Long time geek and sgi fancier I recently bought an O2 from eBay, the price was good but the shipping was *Awful* Paid way over the odds and recieved this in the mail.........
Alas, smashed in to a thousand pieces and signed for in my absence. Thank you DHL, thanks a LOT.
...the cat tries to help soothe my woes by being adorable!
After removing all the broken plastic (read: all), bending the metal, removing, fixing and re-assembling all the hardware I had it booting!!
...alas... 64MB ram, Stinged on the memory! 4GB hard disk......sounds like ))))HELL((((( defo on the way out
I'll probably be putting some requests in the 'want to buy' section shortly!
- TO DO:
- Buy replacement covers
- Get 1GB memory
- 600MHz hack (http://www.futuretech.blinkenlights.nl/o2cpumod.html)
- New Hard disk!
- Upgrade IRIX to latest version
I'm currently in the process of supergluing the case my fingers.. together..
Somewhat superglued and a CDROM door held on with bluetack ........cdrom drive is dead too
Just added a 72GB 15K SCSI Drive in... cloned the drive (thanks wiki!!) all is well. pretty stoked!
