Over the weekend I visited someone who was offering some Mac cards and assorted hardware for sale. A price was negotiated between him, me, and a friend and after all that, I ended up with most of the lot. My friend took like.....three cards. :P

Pictures of it all can be found here as there are a lot of them.

Wow. So I'm seeing at the least avery a pretty much complete VideoVision Telecast system, what might be a complete Avid audio box and ProTools box (not really sure if I have the required cards), some Avid TrueVision cards (I can vouch for them being nice as there is one in my 9600), some older Avid video cards (Still digging out the cables for them), keyboards and controllers, and a lot, lot more. Apparently there is even more stuff so I'll have to go back and check again (I have the card for the 12 slot NuBus expansion box but no box and I have all the parts for the Jackhammer but the card and a few other things I want to ask about)some time. Well, that is should by wallet permit. Unfortunately there is just so much stuff (there are a LOT if scsi, network, and video cards) that I can't keep it all and I'll be forced to sell some of this off to try and make back what I paid. At the least, I can connect the Telecast box to my Silicon Graphics Onyx and then have a way to directly capture material from the RealityEngine2 graphics pipe.

That is the most Nubus stuff I have seen in one place in a long time. Jackhammer, like FWB jackhammer? RAID?

Yes. As in the SCSI accelerator card and RAID software.
Exactly what I was looking for a few months ago..
Regardless, there is enough in here for me to setup most of what I need to turn my Quadra 950 into an Avid system. I got quite a few spares as well. I really wish I knew what went with what so I can assemble sets so I know just exactly what I have.

I thought the Jackhammer was the card, and the sledgehammer was the box array with the actual RAID circuitry. What RAID software did you get?

Whatever was on the floppies and I have not checked them. Also, the Sledge I got only contains the drives, there is nothing special about the box.

How many ATTO Silicon Express IV cards did you get? Care to sell/trade one? Its been awhile since I saw one of those but even longer since I've seen a FWB Jackhammer. I can't remember if there was ever a PCI version of the Jackhammer or not. About 5 years ago just before I started playing with SGI stuff I was buying Nubus cards left and right off ebay. There was always something cool on there. Now not much of anything. Of course that was also when car loads of pre-G4 Macs were free.

I think there's somebody over at 68kmla.net that has a working Avid system. Everytime I spot one of those I'm tempted to grab it but with all those cards it got to be a mess to get working.

Let us know how capture from the Onyx goes when you get that working.

I have a couple of PCI Jackhammers.

FWIW I am still looking for a Nubus memory card, such as the Daystar RAM PowerCard, or NatSemi 8/16.

Did anyone ever make a Nubus video card that would do 1280x1024? That'd be pretty cool to have.

I got a fair number of scsi cards. I did photograph each one so ther are around 100 cards total. I'm sure I can sell a few of them to cut down on the space.
I know there is at least one card in the pile with some REALLY weird resolution (like, 2000x1050 or something insane) but I also found a Pivot card. Unfortunately, no monitor.

Best Nubus video cards: Radius Thunder IV, RasterOps Horizon 24, VillageTronic MacPicasso 340.
The Apple 24GC deserves a special mention too.

Seems like old computer stuff is getting more expensive, but that could be just hyperinflation in its early stages.

Hyperinflation.

So long as you have idiots who spend way too much on stuff exist, people will continue to see those listings and assume that whatever it is, is valueable.

Like they say with land - they don't make it anymore.

Old postage stamps costing thousands isn't a case of hyperinflation, it's hyperidiocy. :)
