These pictures look like multicolor SEM (scanning electron microscope) images. Very cool. 8-)

Nice! Interesting to play with those iteration settings. My PC just did an emergency shutdown... time to get rid of the dust on the CPU heatsink again :lol:

the rendering is not even close :( the mandelbulb looks like global illumination, that looks like shiny plastic phong shading.

@Skywriter: Yes, that's true. But Pentium wanted a mandelbulb generator for Irix.

I think these global-illumination-renderings have been done with "Ultra Fractal 5".

mandelbrot zooming is a great escape, xaos is great for that. i'm amazed at what a netbook can do with it.

with 3d you can go mandel-spelunking, but it's so slow.
