Please post your 'hinv' in the following format:

Topic: Kind of machine (O2, Octane, Tezro, Onyx2, etc.), CPU (R10k 250MHz, R12k 300MHz, R16k 1GHz, etc.), RAM, graphics option (Example: Tezro V12 4xR16K 700MHz 4GB)

Body: output of hinv -v (hinv -vm if possible) and /usr/gfx/gfxinfo.

IRIX doesn't do software RAID5, and I wouldn't recommend installing Linux on such a nice system :lol:

It turns out that when reset, the WD33C93 defaults to a SCSI ID of 0, and it was simpler to leave it that way... -- Dave Olson, in comp.sys.sgi

As embarrassing it is to admit, the movie Jurassic Park lead me down the IRIX path. I am a bit obsessive. I also was really wanting to learn a UNIX system and a bit of graphic editing. I also longed for the command driven days, like back in the 90s.

Everyone on here pointed me toward an Octane. Naturally, I started leaning toward the higher spec ones. Then, SGISTEVE wanted to get rid of all his SGI stuff at a really good price. So, I went for it!

On top of that, I have a local expert who has every part and bit of knowledge I could ever want. Plus, he is only a few blocks away too.

I have since become fascinated with everything Silicon Graphics, and I see many more machines in my future...
