Uhh, you won't find any mainstream PCI-X video cards.

Do you mean PCI express? What system is this in? You haven't told us anything.

My guess is that it's probably his ProLiant DL585, which looks to have PCI and PCI-X slots only.

I doubt there will be any PCI-X boards for graphics, since most workstations of the time would have AGP. I don't know what the ATi Rage XL does, but you can look for a PCI Radeon or possibly a HP Visualize-FX type of card (I've heard rumors that they had a PC version, I don't know if the HP9k version has PC firmware on it or not).

Look at the Alpha cards and newer HP9k cards, as those were almost all PCI, the question is if you can get PC drivers for them.

If it is the Proliant system:
- note: this forum is for Alpha, VAX, PA-RISC, etc, and not really HP/Compaq x86[-64] computers.

if it's for the compaq just about anything will work in it, PCI-X slots are backwards compatible with regular PCI cards.

There are PCI Radeon X1300 cards floating around the Internet for dirt cheap. I have one I might be willing to part with, if you don't live somewhere like Elbonia where shipping would cost more than the card's worth.
