Pentium dropped by my house on Friday to ogle my collection, and I used that chance to insult his icons by saying I could do better.

So I did.

But they're not really smiley sized, more like display picture sized.

So far I've done an Indy and an Octane, as those are the only SGIs I own at the moment. I can work from pictures, but if I have the real thing sitting next to me I can attack it with a measuring tape so everything's to scale.

4 slightly different Indys, based on 2 of mine and 2 pictures I found online.

And my Octane

You can see other things I've pixel pushed at http://www.jax184.com/pictures/pixel%20pushing/ . I do all my work in MS Paint.

I'll probably do a bunch of Suns next, since I have 12 of them to use as models. And I'll be taking requests if anyone else would like something made up.

Jax, I said it once to you and I'll say it again.
Your pixel jobs are really good.

Its one of those old compaqs where you could put different color faceplates in, though I never snapped up any other colors when they existed. Because of this, it's the stock purple. the dvd drives are black:

If you think anybody would care, you could write underneath the picture

for example:

___________
:Indigo2IMP:
R100000 3ghz
maximum impact
64gb ram
3tb disk
etc...

but keep in mind people don't want to have to scroll through 50 lines of hinv. You could link offsite to a summary if you want or put it in your profile page.

No, please don't post overly detailed configs in signatures! The hinv forum is the place for that.

Link to the relevant hinv thread like this instead:
Code:
[url=http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=16718959] :O3000: [/url]

(notice the spaces between the brackets and colons -- they will be removed when previewing, so be sure to add them back before you push submit)

The result looks like this:
:O3000:
When you click on the image, it will take you to the appropriate hinv thread (my O3k in this case).

if i wanted i can do that already but is ugly ... if nobody cares i`m fine with that even ...

i only wanted to write something like R10K Max. Impact or something like that, not the whole hinv, is that short enough for you ?

if we put this signature icons already, it will be fine to write some simple "hover" resume like "XL24" for Indy etc, nothing long, i see that already with some users but can`t find them now ...

This is really nice (but it doesn't quote so well :) ). Great idea, Shade. Mikey likes it.

Probably fairly obscure, but I added them to the available smilies anyway ;)

Not too obscure, I have been thinking about buying one.

Looks like pretty good performance for a very reasonable amount of money ... and they're weird enough to be unmaintainable, which fits my style perfectly :D

I really like the signature computer icons. There is a whole slew of systems that I would like to put there :) But I'll contain myself and suggest only the SGI systems I miss:

They are the IRIS 1000,2000 and 3000 series:

http://sgistuff.g-lenerz.de/hardware/ma ... is1000.php
http://www.reputable.com/sgipix/sgi2400t-front2.jpg
http://sgistuff.g-lenerz.de/hardware/ma ... is3000.php

As for size reference, on the 2000 and 3000 you can look at the size of the tape drive. Don't know anything about the size of a 1000.

If you are fed up with doing these "smileys" I could take a stab at it myself.

I used to do this, but then I ran into the 500-character limit after aquiring one too many machines. As I forgot this, I tried to set this up and ran into the limit again.
