Probably old stuff to everyone else but I was looking for info on ppwizard and came across this anime site. Nothing much there, except go to

http://www.utep.edu/asu/latest_news.html

and scroll the text. Sort of cute .... maybe everyone does this but I haven't seen it before.

Yeah, I used to do that on my site way way back. Though they seem to be using style sheets to do it. Here's the offending code in http://www.utep.edu/asu/asu.css

body
{
background-color: rgb(0,0,0);
background-image: url(images/hanage/background.png);
background-attachment: fixed;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: bottom right;

font-family: palatino linotype, serif;
color: rgb(255,255,255);
}

squeen had this set up in his g2 office announcement article here on Nekochan, but Internet Explorer behaved badly while trying to render it so I had to take it out.

Internet Explorer often behaves badly ! I bought a new router recently but the settings wouldn't stick. Freaked me out totally (friday afternoon, shop closed over the weekend, HAD to get it running for a friend, all the usual.)

Then I remembered that IE often screws up. Grabbed Firebird and awaaaaay we wedt, presto-change-o.

Just about anything from Microsoft is despicable.

The first time I saw this effect was actually in IE (4 maybe?) back in 96 or 97. It was something specifically that IE could do that Netscape couldn't do. It wasn't done stylesheets, it was just another proprietary IE tag (not that netscape doesn't have its own proprietary tags).

Yea standards! Yea Mozilla and Opera! Boo IE an Netscape. Booo. Yea Net+ [gets hit in head with mallet] yea.a..d.d..zzzz
