Not captcha related, but it's a bit odd that there isn't a link back to the nekochan home page on the wiki.

Eh ... what?

I guess I could draw big red circles around it on the actual page, but c'mon ;)

I just added some additional links under navigation - it's simply an edit of http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/ ... ki:Sidebar (anyone could have done so; this is a wiki after all).

Hehe :) Well it was the product of a graphics tablet and probably more than a bit of annoyance - the captcha extension was a pain in the butt to configure/install and then I found (what I perceived) to be gripes about things "other than captcha" and it torqued me more than it should have. I've had a night's sleep since and I apologize if I offended anyone.

Captach

Unread postby joerg » Wed Oct 10, 2007 7:44 am

Pete, is there a chance to install or remove a better captcha? I was unable to modify a wiki article. I wast a lot of time and its very frustrating and YES iam already logged in.

After 20 tries it began from the start. But there is no chance to insert the right text because its unreadable for a human. My whole company was very amused :)

After 742236955 tries i have success with a lowercase phrase. (But the Captcha is UPPERcase?)

Joerg

Like joerg, it took me a bit to get the hang of reading the captch, but once I did it wasn't really a huge bother. I even got familiar with some of the phrases, and was happy when "an old friend" popped up that I knew I could decipher.

If, as Neko says above, it was a massive pain to install, I'd say he should save his time for better (and more fun!) things. After all, I believe that wiki page authoring is still an infrequent event for most of us.

My two-cents. (sorry joerg :) )

Here let me try my skills....

Yep - I've mentioned that captcha responses must be lowercase; it's even on the front page of the wiki. Bottom line - I'm not changing it. If you don't like it, don't use it; doesn't bother me any which way, but I'm not dealing with the spam problems a weaker captcha generates. I just don't have time for that crap.

Who reads the frontpage when during editing an article a captcha comes up? Even on the captcha helppage this info is missing.

CSS and Template for the wiki

Unread postby joerg » Sat Nov 03, 2007 5:40 am

Hi Pete, it is possible that you can open the
http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/? ... ge=2678400
page? Otherwise it would be fine if you can take a look if it contains the table.prettytable CSS class. But it looks like the page is empty except the comment. I also not knowing if the system use the file.

The original one which was used by wikipedia is here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?tit ... ge=2678400

Another question was does anyone know how to deal with the Templates? I would like to use the Template:Infobox_Software thing but i dont get it to work. See http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Templa ... x_Software.

I would like to use this template and CSS stuff on http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/index.php/Setup_neko_apache2 but iam totally lost :)

Edit:
I have found http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Template and start playing with it

Joerg

Pete, thank you for the CSS. The table now looks much better.

Joerg
