IR3 not recognised on Inferno

Unread postby Jerome21 » Sun Sep 02, 2007 4:38 am

Hi,
I have IR3 on Onyx2 rackside. 1 Ge16-4 and 2x RM 10-256. Everything works fine. I checked the gfxinfo.
I even run the IR diagnostics from /usr/diags/IR/bin/irsaudit. And it appears that there are no hardware problems in my graphic boards.
Do you know if there is setting or something I can tweak to tell the inferno that the version of the graphics is OR3 instead of IR2. Everything was installed from scratch, so no old logs before the update from IR2 to IR3. Even the IRIX was installed after initialization of the hard drive. Thanks

I found in usr/discreet/util a file "INSTALLGFX" this is the file responsible of setting the right graphics for use and it show only one RM presented. This is weird since all other checks in IRIX show that all the RM are present and working. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi foetz,
what is rms? I am not aware of that.

rms is meant to be the the plural of rm
rm <or RM if you prefer> = Raster Manager
In your case, it would be an RM 10-256.

Oh, thank you recondas. Excusse me for the stupid question.
No after installation nothing was change. The inferno was installed with all the rms already upgraded and functioning. And the hinv shows IR3 and gfxinfo shows 2xRM and even the diags showed no problem at all. The only place I see the message "One RM found is in the program called "GFXINSTALL" in Discreet/utils I don't know if this is important or no. I am wondering is there any way to test the graphic speed in Inferno, for example I know that the "multisample" button is disabled if you have only one RM. Mine is enabled. But I just don't want to use my brand new IR3 as IR2. Thats why I am suspicious. Thanks

you're sure both rms are working perfectly?
the fact that they're listed in gfxinfo doesn't mean they're totally okay

As I said I executed the diag tool in /usr/diags/IR/bin/irsaudit and it showed that everything is working perfectly (after 10 mins of heavy diagnostics of each part of the graphics platform)
