I have no idea what the other two are, so I guess the third applies for me :)

Reagan, who is this ignorant witch ?

http://www.asiansexgazette.com/asg/chin ... news76.htm

"Only 60 years ago, arranged marriage was still the norm" ...

try ten, stupid. In fact, Chinese parents (moms, actually) still have considerable say-so in marriage decisions. Don't know if that's good or bad ...

"The topic of sex education was once taboo, and still off-limit ..."

Right. And how exactly was the much-maligned one-child policy implemented ? By banning storks ?

"The first week of May, coinciding with China's "May Day" and Spring holidays, hospitals have reported a spike in the number of teens coming in for abortions."

Well, duh. It's a weeklong holiday. When else are you going to have an abortion, on any old wednesday in the middle of the school term ? Is this lady stupid or what ?

By the way, Spring Festival is usually in January. Good try, tho. About as accurate as everything else she wrote.

"Shanghai newspapers reported a 30% rise in abortions for teenage girls, and Beijing hospitals have also noticed similar trends."

Again, duuuh. Maybe we can correlate the impressive number of people coming to Shanghai and Beijing from the countryside looking to make more money ? And the also impressive number of girls whose biggest talent at that age is renting their body ?

"Of the total 2,300 teens polled, a collective 85% said teenage sex was okay ..."

Lady, this is a country with a long history of multiple wives and plenty more concubines. There are no Puritans in China, thank god.

" Considering the Chinese government's crackdown on internet pornography, and the fact that it's illegal in China ..."

Oh yeah, right. The ten DVD stores per block have all escaped the repressive fascist police forces just by the hairs on their chinny-chin-chins. Is this bitch blind as well as dumb ? Xinhua Shudian, the government bookstore chain, has racks and racks of sex education DVD's right across the aisle from the cartoons. Maybe they just teach how to do it tho, not how to avoid pregnancy. That'd be typical. :P

" Despite the controversy, given the rising teen abortion rates and teen pregnancy rates, China has to re-evaluate the current system."

Oh yeah, Ms. Robertson, you and your little coffee-klatch clique back there on Main Street really have the subject of sex education all together, unh-hunh. Right. Maybe when you figure out how to teach evolution then you'll have a leg to stand on when lecturing china about sex. Pot -> kettle, etc etc.

This kind of ignorance and stupidity really infuriates me. Please, someone take this ignorant, hypocritical, hare-brained bitch and drown her like an unwanted kitten.

Can we do something about the idiot press ? Can't we make them get a license or something ? Fine them viciously for misleading the public ? Dunking stools, stocks, branding, cutting off a nose or an ear ? the world already has too many lies to permit morons to spread more swill. Go back to Omaha, lady, and help out down at your local schools teaching how the Earth was created in seven days. Fool.

Considering the differences in cultures, some mis interpretation of facts is inevidable.
There is usually a vast differences on quality of articles, etc.

No, Reagan, I can't agree. This article is pure unadulterated shit. All it does is feed the same old desiccated ignorant right-winger horse shit that inundates the US. The facts are quite simple - if you bother to spend five minutes on analysis or if you have more intelligence than a two year old chimpanzee. China doesn't need a sexual revolution because China has been thirty thousand times more liberated about sex than the US for the last several thousand years. If you don't believe that, I can change your mind easily enough :P Chinese don't have to tie girls up to get off, either ...

Every thing she wrote is very easy to discount. It's all hogwash and propaganda. There certainly are problems in and with China but not a single one of them corresponds to the ignorant foolish trash that these people spew.

I despise these lying sanctimonious ignorant bastards (and bastardesses ?)

Besides that, if the person writing the story can't understand what is actually going on and doesn't have enough experience or empathy for the culture to write truth, then what the hell are they doing writing anything at all ?

Hamei, I am on your side When it comes to stuff like this but please calm down.
We can agree that the site is somewhat over the top but don't forget that everyone has a different view.

Propaganda and lies are not things people should be calm about. WW II should have been a good enough lesson for anyone. If that wasn't, then Vietnam should have been. If not Vietnam, then ... ahem. Oops. Perhaps we are tending towards the political ?

Nah. Lies is lies no matter who is putting them out including smarmy self-righteous hypocritical Puritans in disguise, such as that despicable website. I looked around there a bit more - other stories are even worse. If we researched the home of that domain we'd probably find it to be at Bob Jones "University". (If I call myself an elephant, does that make me one ?)

There's nothing you can do about; you might be tempted to say "I can speak out!", but no, this is a no politics zone and it's all very off topic :P

smarmy self-righteous hypocritical Puritans in disguise

If you look at the bottom, it even says it's a repost from CBN.com - The Christian Broadcasting Network. Those sorts of groups aren't even normal sane Christians - think faith healers and Christian rock knockoff bands.

The existence and views of extremists are no startling revelation. You might as well dig up a holocaust denial video or a KKK website or UFO cult and make a fuss about that. There's no point in ruminating over the views of fringe idiots.

I apploigze to Gray Fox for hijacking this thread and sending it into cultural insensitivities ... and I am sorry for setting hamei off. There are a lot more anime, smut, and computer sites I tend to trawl through in search of amusement or interest. I usually skim through sites like that until I find something amusing or interesting. That was a random pick from my browser history. On the point of the poll, I read nekochan for anime and SGI stuff but there are a lot of other anime sites other than just the other chans.. So nekochan is the only chan for me.

Jesus, guys .... was it Orwell who remarked on the way people would censor themselves ? Are we so afraid now to say anything of substance ? Let's face facts - anime is smut. There's no way you can discuss smut without brushing up against pseudo-morality. Pseudo-morality is gonna touch on politics quite quickly, due to the way the reactionary forces of organized religion have inserted themselves into American government. Does the no-politics rule mean there's also no discussion of ethics, integrity, logic, truth in journalism, or anything beyond "wow, that sakayumi girl is so cute ! willya look at them hooters !"

Off-topic ? Hardly.

Man, the religion in the American government is nothing :? You should hear what Polish politics are like. Here's a sampler.

The President and his political party got voted in on a platform anti-corruption and reform, as well as traditional, very conservative Catholic values. Creationism, Anti-Abortion, Anti-Homosexuality, etc. The Education Minister is a creationist.

Within literally a few months of said anti-corruption president being elected, his identical twin brother was put into the Prime Minister seat.

Except he's not totally identical. He's also gay!!!

And the political party is officially called the pis party. (Seriously.)
