Who can identify this serial adapter?

Unread postby josehill » Sun Jul 16, 2017 10:10 am

From the public Low End Mac Facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/lowendmac/permalink/10154584382641689/

I don't remember seeing too many 13 pin DIN connectors in the ancient times. Did this unit plug into a KVM, perhaps?

I can't see it being useful with a KVM; for every mouse you need a keyboard, too.
The minidin-9 mouse port was only used with "bus mice" on PCs, but this adapter has a mac serial port. A strange combination.
I suspect it was a port replicator dongle for an early PC laptop like the ones from GRiD or Dolch.

Yeah, that looks like some kind of breakout box for a laptop or something. Though I don't think I've seen one with Mac and PC serial ports on the same dongle before, interesting.

I have seen adapters like that on old laserdisk players from sony.
If the thing isn't on fire it's a software problem.
