It is a relief.
I knew my ex-wife for more than 10 years. But the person I married was completely different from the one I started dating 10 years ago. I thought being married would fix the issues accumulated the issues.

It was just sad that she left me one week after I paid for all her expenses to move to Australia (most expensive place in the Universe), and I was supposed to get transferred and move there as well. In the end, she is not even staying there (she is there for 2 years or so)

Well my divorce cost me a lot of money and left me in some debt.. but it was worth it, got to start my life again and have two wonderful little ones to go with my eldest (who is also wonderful in case she reads this ).

It seems to me they managed to bring the pricing down to some more mass-market-acceptable levels this time. Navigating through the Talos II website, the following appear to be the prices:

Talos™ II Secure Workstation with 1 CPU - $4,750.00
Talos™ II Rack Mount Development Platform with 1 CPU - $5,100.00
Talos™ II Bundle (Mainboard + Single CPU + CPU cooler) - $2,300.00
Talos™ II Bundle (Mainboard + Dual CPU + CPU coolers) - $2,750.00
Talos™ II Mainboard (Board Only) - $2,150.00
IBM POWER9 CPU (4-Core) - $310.00

Regarding the POWER9 CPU, I wasn't able to find the specs anywhere, apart from the info that it is a 4-core CPU.
It appears that IBM did not yet come out with the specs, and the only/first Power9 CPU available is the one offered as part of Talos.

Keep in mind the workstation doesn't have RAM or a video card. You could add those separately if you like, but I'm just getting them BTO. I'm waiting for a clarification on one of the items, but the loadout I'm looking at is a bit under $7500 shipped, which is about in line with my expectations (two CPUs, SAS RAID, video card, 32GB RAM). The prices they're asking are not outrageous for those. The nice thing is, if you have a terminal case of sticker shock, much of this could be added later since it's all off the shelf.

The POWER9 they're using is the "scale-out" version. Each core is (I think) the SMT-4 version, so that's 16 threads per CPU. I am told the 12-core and 24-core variants will likely be compatible but have not yet been tested, so I'm buying all the CPU I want now.

IMO, the price for the board and chips is downright cheap when you consider the low volume and what you are getting.

But running the price up for a box, disk, and RAM to $7500 seems crazy to me, even tho that's about what I would guess such a machine to cost overall.

I would have guessed around $5k for the MB+CPUs and another 2500 for everything else. This is almost exactly the other way around.

Must be a hell of a RAID. A basic configuration for under $3k I almost find appealing
