Other than the CRAY logo, they seem to be just a run of the mill early generation blade chassis. No?

That makes two of us! Although I suspect my chances of getting one this side of the pond even less than yours. Live in hope.
iirc, I saw a chassis a few years ago, but no nodes. I was surprised how deep the case was. It would be interesting to know how many of these systems were actually shipped.

That's pretty much what they are, a blade server for deskside use, marketed as a 'personal cluster'. SGI (Rackable) did one, the Octane 3. Both these systems had (could take) Nvidia Tesla nodes which would equate to some serious parallelism capability in a small space.

While on the subject of 'personal clusters'. Has anyone heard of a Ciarra/vxtech Nexxus 4000 personal cluster, aside from 2 PR pdf's, I cannot find any information about them other than http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16724243&p=7330520&hilit=ciarra+nexxus#p7330520 a few years ago?

Sign me up for a Cray CX-1 also. I tried to get our engineering work group manager interested when they first came out but it was too pricey.

There was a CX-1 (or maybe two) for sale on Ebay several years ago (maybe 2011ish) but I recall the price being very high for a home purchase (> US$20,000).

There is an unboxing and setup video on Youtube.

Oy, that touchscreen gui has not aged well.. The screens on the O2k rack, even the monochrome-matrix terminator onyxes, look much better at this point

Looking over the listing this seems he's one of those sellers who see the original price and immediately see $ $ $ $ $ $ all over the place. HE has the famous "it cost x much when it was new and this is what it cost according to online."

In the end though it's just a nearly ten year old fancy looking 8-slice blade server with no OS, software, a bunch of cabling missing and any form of a service contract that would make it be still worth $26K not included.

Agreed; just another disillusionalist ebay polluter. On the plus side though, the sellers who kept listing their Tezros at 10 to 12 thousand dollars seem to have given up... :D

Ehh, if I wanted a bunch of standard PCs connected together I would build my own cluster out of modern hardware, not buy some weird Cray from the mid 2000s.

I don't know Dodoid, this thing has some animal magmatism, you could quite easily get some mini foot stools placed around it and viola.. a cray with a proper badge.

I still fancy this beast http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SGI-4700-Server-256-Cores-128-x-Itanium-9040-1-6Ghz-18M-Cache-1TB-memory-/172455350954?hash=item282723d2aa:g:9O0AAOSw~OdVesuT totally pointless, and you'd need your own renewable power source, but I bet it would be fun.

The question with this [the 4700] I have is, could I replace my house heating with some form of ducting and have a super computer to play with at the same time and reduce my gas bill to next to nothing? If not I will have to continue with lottery prediction program.
