Sorry for the lack of updates. My health has been up and down for quite a while, but I think we've figured it out :)

Updates:
1) HP acquired SGI... I've reopened the discussion and waiting for a reply
2) I retain the rights for MaXX and binaries/installers must come from maxxinteractive.com as of now.
3) Working on new code and looking for c,c++ and Java developers
4) Fedora 24 and Debian8/Ubuntu 16.04 are the supported releases
5) New links (see below)
6) Incremental releases will be the way to go.
7) New release dubbed Onyx is on the work
8) Writing technical documents to facilitate the involvement of contributors

Here are the main links:

Correction: Fedora 24 is the version. Too many uncertainties for ABI compatibility, the intro of Wayland as default Windowing System and Python 3.6 (for anything Blender)

I wouldn't worry too much about Fedora 25 until it is closer to release. Fedora will have to include X.org still because Wayland + nvidia proprietary drivers currently does not work, and other desktops (XFCE, LxQT, plus the basic Window Managers like FVWM and Window Maker) do not support Wayland at this time (and I doubt that FVWM or Window Maker ever will). There again, the Fedora team has a history of just breaking things and not really caring, plus they have been trying to shove Wayland down our throats for what, six years now? Too many things at this time do not support Wayland for that to be the only option (plus they would break compatibility with other developers, like the TDE team, Mplayer, CDE, etc).

I think we all will be happy to have it working with Ubuntu 16.04 and Fedora 24 though :)

Eric, I have a couple decades experience with C, C++ and Motif and would be happy to help. Presumably you have the source code to Viewkit as well? Are you using, or did SGI use RapidApp/BXPro for their development? I have BXPro 5-something on my Linux box and on my SGIs, and RapidApp on my SGIs...

That would be awesome! ViewKit is sadly one of those great technology that felt into a black hole when SGI went chap-13 and loose interest in its desktop technologies :( I only have binaries from a BXPro version... I am using ViewKlass for MaXX and it does pretty much anything I need it to do. I could tell you more offline ;)

ICS has the Viewkit source code, presumably they could still be lobbied into selling a binary that would work with one of the MaXX Desktop target distributions, here's a link to their rather bare-bones Viewkit page:

http://motif.ics.com/products/viewkit

The binary I got from them 15 years ago no longer works with any recent Linux. I've never used Viewklass but if you're happy with it I'm sure it's fine.

Regardless of any of that, PM sent!

If you could ask them to dump hardware documentation/specifications for "ISD" or "Godzilla" (Octane system design using HEART), plus the user programming manual for the R14000 and R16000 CPU's, that'd be awesome. HP was using R14K's on their NonStop-series of servers, so I know there's gotta be a manual or errata sheet lying around that details information on the Status and Config registers of those CPUS, just in case any new features or capabilities were added after the R12K. And knowing how HEART works better on Octane would let me solve the damn DMA bug with BRIDGE.

I actually got DR3 working on Debian 8. It took some vododoo but it's stable and works great. I'll post a screenshot as soon as I am back on my geek laptop.

Getting same results here with Fedora24. Focus is on getting a release of MaXX out ASAP so that we can focus on moving forward.

Will be posting F24 shoots and videos on MaXX Facebook page.

MaXX on Debian 8. Some caveats:

Along with all all other requirements, you need to install libglade2-0.
Add /opt/MaXX/bin to your $PATH.
Add the MaXX OpenMotif to your LD_PATH.

The filemanager (FM aka ROX-Filer) works just fine but the desktop with icons doesn't work. Yes, you see it on my screen shot but I have no idea why it works. I logged in one time and it just started working.

Xmmx (The Motif mixer) won't work on Debian. The GTK2 theme looks fine, there is no GTK3 theme yet.

I also tried this on vanilla Ubuntu 16.10 and while I got it to work, it was unstable and prone to crashing or simply freezing.

I have a Fujitsu Primergy XEON TX100 S1 , 8GB RAM, 3TB Raided drive and I've decide to install this tonight.

So first, I need a LINUX OS.. Is Fedora the choice? Debian was mentioned?

I will start by downloading Fedora25.

Fedora 24 works, I don't think it works in 25 right now. Debian and Ubuntu are reported to work (I know it worked with Ubuntu 15.10, haven't tried the updated version on 16.04 yet since I've been in Slackware and Red Hat land for a while).

Darn it.. bad start to a project then.. not only did I have to go up the shed (in the cold dark, winter, leaf covered garden) and get my blank CDs/DVDs.. I've now downloaded 25 and burning..

Ah well.. I will see how it goes.

[EDIT] Dead before it left the ground.. DVD wont eject even with the assistance of a screwdriver!!! Another day maybe. :(

Currently doing a net install remotely at work, I think one at a time is enough, I will obtain a new DVD tomorrow.
