Installing Ubuntu 7.04 Live CD on a latitude c810

Unread postby Arie van Schutterhoef » Sat Dec 15, 2007 2:19 pm

I have a Dell c810 Latitude running Windows XP and install 7.04 from
the Live CD, because I want to get rid of Windows as soon as
possible... I'm able get the Live CD working seen the gnome window
etc, but not able to do start up from the CD. The instructions say
that pressing F10 or delete, would do the job, but I get only Windows
start-up tune and after a while that's not the most pleasant bit of
music to listen to.
On the Mac pressing c does the trick, in despair I also did that but
the tune kept returning...

Question: how does one do the boot-up sequence and installation from the Live CD 7.04?

Have you tried changing the boot order in the machine's BIOS?

>Have you tried changing the boot order in the machine's BIOS?
-I've actually bypassed the hard-drive altogether and only allowed the CD/DVD drive to be used. This Windows XP OS is an extremely unpleasant exemplar of the Operating Systems Species... I sincerely resent its presumpteous attitude it displays towards the user. Rather pleased that it being eradicated at the moment...
