NIS and NFS Automount

Unread postby praetor242 » Wed May 09, 2018 3:21 pm

I've given up on my experimental Kerberos setup and went back to my tried and true NIS setup. If it ain't broke.

But I'm trying to get my SGIs to Automount their home directories. Automount acts like it mounts them, but nothing shows up in /home. It works fine in linux though.

Here's my auto.master file:

Code: Select all

/home   yp:auto.home
+auto.master

and my auto.home file:

Code: Select all

wfisher   server1.reality.dataforge.tk:/exports/home/&

And the nsswitch.conf file is set for 'Automount: nis'

ypcat shows the maps just fine, it's just not mounting the directories in home.

Ideas?

AFAIK & only works for * entries.

ps. I haven't verified that against any documentation, just what I think I remember from Solaris admin days.

Hi

Works great for me, below is my nsswich.conf, the server is a T2000 running Solaris 11
PLS note the auto_master, it uses "." instead of "_" auto.home not auto_home as in Solaris
