Ruby

Unread postby praetor242 » Mon Feb 27, 2017 5:12 pm

I'm a Ruby developer and it would be kinda cool if I could do Ruby on my O2. Is there a port of it, or does it compile just fine using GCC, or is it no go?

I don't expect to run a rails app on IRIX, but just some gems and ruby scripts.

I compiled ruby 2.0.. a bit more modern than 1.8.4:
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16730169&p=7394935&hilit=ruby+2.0.0#p7394935

It works fine.. a lot of gems work great.. but a few specific ones that compile native extensions (nokogiri is one example) I could not get compiled. But if you work with pure ruby you should be ok... and many other native extensions do compile though.

In summary:

http://www.nekochan.net/downloads/necro ... .5.tardist

Over time.. a bug came out with remote install of gems. it is detailed in the link at the top.
In summary:
UPDATE/FIX for gem to install from rubygems.org due to an SSL issue
For the neko_ruby-2.0.0 installed package:
create a file:
/usr/nekoware/lib/ruby/site_ruby/2.0.0/rubygems/ssl_certs/GlobalSignRootCA.pem
with the following contents:
