Dassault systems Catia V5

Unread postby Hombre71 » Fri Jan 13, 2017 10:40 am

So, the Fuel I revived has a copy of Catia v5 r14 installed, unfortunately no license so it's pretty useless. Looks like v5 was ported in 1998.

I've got it too, also without a license. Don't bother contacting them about it, the won't sell you a license no matter how much you offer them...

IRIX is out of support from Dassault at least since 2009. (My company has switched from AIX/IRIX to Windows in 2003-2005 and abandoned IRIX in 2006. At the best times at the end 90's we had ~2000 SGI-Machines here, mostly Octanes. The availability of Catia for Windows was the biggest nail in the coffin for sgi in europe. But also, this saved the automotive industry millions...!

I would be also looking for a possibility to run Catia V5 on my sgi's. Sadly all the available cracks only works for windows...

Some other software I found on the box. They seem to be related to CATIA?

Do you have any idea who the machine belonged to before you got it? Because if the prior owner didn't bother scrubbing the disk it seems pretty weird that they deleted all the licenses...

It could also be that the licence was served by another machine. It would seem odd to scrub the machine, re-install Catia and not licence it again? Unless the previous owner was NOT the original Catia user and it was a failed attempt? This was the case when I purchased my IBM Power system. The guy (ex Westland helicopter designer) had purchased it before me and tried to get Catia licenced but failed and left it on the system unlicensed.

D'oh! Sorry, brain fry. That's very likely the case. But then again if it was the OP should have noticed the box trying to mount network volumes that (obviously) don't exist at his house... :?:

Yes it was most likely a license server, its full of networked links that are no longer active.
