SGI Fuel with Nucletron Plato

Unread postby strong_epoxy » Mon May 30, 2016 9:16 pm

That discount Fuel that appeared on eBay recently was part of a Nucletron Plato Brachytherapy system. It arrived with perfect skins and doors. Though somewhat low spec: 600MHz V-10 it did come with a fun SGI branded 4x3 LCD monitor that'll come in handy. The Plato software combines CT scans into a 3D model and plans/simulates Brachytherapy procedures.

It's fun to be reminded that these SGI rigs were industrial machines that not only entertained, but helped people when they needed it the most.

All I need now is the actual Brachytherapy machine and some radioactive isotopes and I'm in business. I'll start with my daughter's hamster. If I mess up I can get another one that looks just like it.

If you need a physician consultation, let me know. :)

I actually think I have a Nucleotron Fuel also, but I took the badge off, not knowing what it was. The hard disk was wiped in any case.

Looks like they got bought by Elekta Instruments in 2011, according to their careers site they're looking for developers. Provided you don't mind developing in freaking Prism, blech... :x
Project:
Temporarily lost at sea...
Plan:
World domination! Or something...
