Tried an external dvd drive I got from recondas a few years ago last night after getting an external cable with centronics ends on both sides. Turns out both the power supply and drive died. I took it apart, popped my Fuel's DVD drive in there, opened the side panel of my Linux firewall (the corsair in the background) to power the drive and then utilized the internal->external adapter from the original external drive.

A little while later, IRIX 5.3 was good to go and pretty fast considering it's running on a 33mhz/48mb system:

Reviving an old thread, hope it's allright.

All the DINA mirrors in this thread seems to be offline, including the se and us nekoware mirrors.
Any luck the mirrors will come back up again in the near future, or is there an unposted alternative download URL for DINA avaliable somewhere? :)

EDIT:

Google is my friend. I found a mirror :)

Oh, thanks for reporting this. I have to contact the other moderators to see if we can fix a few mirrors. DINA is pretty good and actually works. Have installed an Indy last week with it.

I pulled all the DINA files and documentation from the mirror at shiftleft.com down to my own mirror which I recently migrated to some newer and more reliable hardware.

Feel free to use the link below, and please don't hesitate to PM me if something goes missing or the mirror ever falls out of sync. :)

I'm not sure which page of this 10 page thread it's on, but my mirror has been online the whole time -- still is, just checked both links from the wiki.

I don't have a local x86 Un*x to test this on, so I'm curious about the backend. Does it hand out addresses over DHCP or BOOTP or what? Is the transfer over NFS, TFTP, ... ?
smit happens.

See http://shiftleft.com/mirrors/nekochan/D ... ation.html

It's a mini-FreeBSD system with BOOTP, TFTP and NFS services. Since it's a VM you can even try it with ... Windows! (hides)

The last time I used it, DINA ran NetBSD. Has that changed?

Well, NetBSD runs on "everything", so you could just find a SoC that will rune NetBSD and shoehorn in DINA as it is (after a recompile, probably).

I thought it'd be nice to get it going on one of the allwinner ARMs like cubieboard or pcduino. pcduino3 nano for example has SATA and GigE for $40. Then again, you can get a mini ITX board with an atom processor and dig up some old memory and not have to do any tinkering other than moving the vm to hardware.
