Unread postby Dodoid » Sat Jan 21, 2017 8:52 am

Was reading through an old PC Magazine and found this review. Decided to scan it.

Good read. Interesting to see a review from the time.

Thanks for sharing! It brings back memories: the first IRIX workstation I ever had on my own desk was an R5K WebForce Indy back in 1996.

It took a very long time for me to download the file, even though it only was a 7.2 MB png file. I presume the Neko server is getting pounded.

I've put a copy of the file on Dropbox as a temporary solution for anyone who is having a hard time downloading the article. (No guarantees on how long I'll keep it there.)

Wish I still had my copy of Unix Review's Indy article, their take was a bit less pained as the author had actually used a Unix box previously... ;)
Project:
Temporarily lost at sea...
Plan:
World domination! Or something...

Just in case you needed to read the rest of the article, for example the $15k Sun Netra that precedes the Indy, the entire magazine is here: https://books.google.com/books?id=yurvR ... &q&f=false

What if Nekochan Forums did a Jurassic Park spoof where instead of dinosaurs in simulated prehistoric environments it's old computers in a simulated 90s office building, and instead of the dinosaurs attacking the network goes down? There would be like different floors for different office environments (and by extension computer types) and a huge control center with a bunch of pointless graphics of cubes and globes and stuff on a bunch of screens.
