Fan Damage

Unread postby Krokodil » Wed Nov 16, 2016 6:27 pm

Well today I decided to run the Octane 1 (Montrealais) and apparently a quarter had somehow fallen into the power supply. Well when I turned it on the quarter fell into the fan and shot out the back. Now a couple of my fan blades have small dog ears on them.

What is the best choice of replacement fan for an Octane power supply? I know this has been discussed before, but it never seemed to reach anything conclusive.

I've been planning to try a replacement fan in my Octane2 for quite some time, some good information in this thread, I think I will probably try a SilenX fan as mentioned in the last post: http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?t=9177
Project:
Temporarily lost at sea...
Plan:
World domination! Or something...

Yeah, although the fan seems to work still. I don't like leaving stuff in a rundown state like that, it is pretty old and is essential to keeping the machine cooled. The MGRAS board puts out the heat of a gas turbine engine. So a replacement is due sooner or later.

But it must be the right fan, even if that means replacing it with another Panaflow.

For the amount of power they use you'd wish they were.
