IRIX is now legacy software.

Software > Legacy Software > Operating Systems > IRIX

It seems to contains some of the previously available stuff. I did not manage to find the 6.5.22 update you could download with a free account. Oh, and many of the patches are linked to their describing document—hence they are in the category "Documentation".

On the other hand, I'm glad there is still the free accounts access to the SGI support site. Compare this to Oracle or HP. Even while I have access to Oracle database stuff (from my work account), everything regarding Solaris or old Sun hardware is still locked behind the paid maintenance contract.

I hope they keep the old techpubs.sgi.com untouched since it is quite well organised.

I don't know whether it's the new organization but I'm finding lots of useful info :)

Love that they've decided to outsource the whole site to custhelp.com. Even the account reset email. One more thing that helps people be taken in by phishers. "Well it looks like an SGI email, and I know not all of their URLs are under sgi.com, so I'll click the link in this message from evilspammer@sgi-com.com and enter my information." Feh. They're hardly the only offender...

That aside, glad they're still offering what they do, etc.

Good idea. It'd be awful if Techpubs disappeared without a copy existing somewhere.

Guess we no longer have any use for the new SGI then.

Does that mean that they have unofficially released IRIX into our care? :)

I predict that the release of NetWare 7.0 will happen before this.

Techpubs seems to have already removed its IRIX 6.2 and 5.3 section. Are those backed up somewhere?

I'm sure they've got a backup of it, that they will never in a million years release to the public... :|

Removed from the index page, but content is still there: IRIX 5.3, IRIX 6.2, IRIX 6.3 and IRIX 6.4.

I have backups of the manual PDFs and tar.gz files, but not the manpages. But if you wanted to ressurrect that, you would use the actual manpages from an IRIX dist + some man2html gateway.

Not encouraging. Just to check, do we have an online mirror of this that can be easily accessed in case the plug is pulled completely?
