What if the numbers are stored in BCD form?

Actually I think they're stored in bi-quinary coded decimal...

That was very funny
But in truth, saying "unsigned" is praenimis... it would be a power of two either way.
Numbers are frequently printed in fields of limited size, which can act strangely when they are not wide enough. They can even suddenly turn into something non-numeric, like with the "G" format specifier in Fortran.

Yeah, there's some incredible players out there. The #1 pinball player in the world, Keith Elwin, lives about 50 miles away, but we get international competitors around here too.

Compared to that lot, I look like I'm all thumbs.

Any of those guys ever tilt? That's always been my chief difficulty at pinball, constant tilting... 8-)

Silicon Graphics, the Indy and the Web

Unread postby Geoman » Thu Sep 08, 2016 10:50 am

Well I entered ""sgi indigo" hardware error" into Google, because I got some weird memory problems, and stumbled on this beautiful SGI-related webpage.

enjoy!

https://therealmccrea.com/tag/sgi/

Somehow, against the odds, it all came together. WebFORCE went from funded project to new product line, ready for launch in just 76 days. Twenty years ago today, January 26, 1995, the two hottest companies in Silicon Valley at the time, Silicon Graphics (SGI) and Netscape, came together to launch the first turnkey solution for web authoring and web serving — the very first products with “web” in their name.

I did search before posting, but not that thorough I guess -- thread can be deleted.

The OP dangled the carrot that he had a lot more sgi-insider stuff to post, but hasn't been back since (Nov. 2014). Other than he and techgrrl how many ex-sgi employees do we have as members? Anyone know? Bueller? Bueller? :P
