What happened to CosmoWorlds?

Unread postby ka0s » Tue Sep 13, 2005 12:54 pm

CosmoWorlds used to be a free download from SGI, but it seems to have disappeared!

Does anyone have a tardist of the last version, 1.0.3?
I can feel it, my mind is going ....

...I'm uploading it to 'incoming', to leave the latest decision to Neko about if he want to host it on his FTP server. I have locally mirrored the tardist files of the whole IRIX section of "Cool Downloads", and I could upload the rest too.

But I don't want to hurt any copyright, hence my decision to upload it and leave it at hands of "The Man" ;)

Bump again
Someone posted a link that has been deleted after I downloaded it. But I did not find my downloaded copy when looking for new downloaded files to put on my NAS backup. Thanks to whoever posted this link to PM it again !

Thanks but it seems the files have been damaged by some unwanted format translation by a foreign OS, inst does not like the file cosmoworlds.idb. Seems an UNIX to DOS text conversion error, solved with

Code: Select all

mv cosmoworlds.idb cosmoworlds.dos
tr -d '\15' <cosmoworlds.dos >cosmoworlds.idb

Okay, thanks for letting me know - I'll remove the archive. Hopefully someone else has a valid copy someplace.

Edit: A fresh archive has been provided to me and uploaded to the same location.
