Does anyone know what the font used in SGI's press releases is called? Was it specifically designed for SGI, and is it available anywhere / licensable for use? For an example, look at the body font of this data sheet - http://www.siliconbunny.com/data_sheets ... def_io.pdf .

I tried running Ghostscript's 'pdffonts' tool on the above file, and it gave me the following output:

This implies it is a custom-designed face... This newsgroup post seems to back up that assumption, but still doesn't provide much information on availability / licensing.

The font simply named "SGI" was custom made for SGI. It is proprietary, so unfortunatly it isn't available (legally) to the public.

Search harder. Basically, it's a slightly modified version of something available. There have been a few discussion about that font here.

There was sgifonts.exe zip compressed archive floating around and i have this backed-up somewhere, i don't know whats inside, never opened it. If is under forum rules and if admin permits to be ok i will share it.

An ftp search finds that file all over the place so even if neko doesn't feel like worrying at night, it's easy to get.

lol, i think they don't need this font anymore, the new "rackable" inspired font is even more ugly :mrgreen: just visited the new sgi site and puff ... omg

I grabbed that exe from sgi's press library years ago, it was freely available. I've uploaded the extracted ttf files here:

Hi,
I remember downloading sgifonts.exe few years back.
I used wine to run it (it was unpacker in form of installer :)

I don't have the original file anymore, but I have the fonts which were inside.

I wonder if this link will get slashed or not:

I believe it's ok for it to be posted in this forum, as SGI gave it away for free few years ago.

I might have a look in my backups, I guess I will find original sgifonts.exe, which comes with license, so the things will be de jure without doubt.
