Does anyone know what the font used in SGI's press releases is called? Was it specifically designed for SGI, and is it available anywhere / licensable for use? For an example, look at the body font of this data sheet -
http://www.siliconbunny.com/data_sheets ... def_io.pdf .
I tried running Ghostscript's 'pdffonts' tool on the above file, and it gave me the following output:
Code:
name type emb sub uni object ID
------------------------------------ ----------------- --- --- --- ---------
CCDIJA+SGI-Bold Type 1C yes yes yes 16 0
CCDIKC+SGI-Text Type 1C yes yes yes 27 0
CCECDF+Sgiv1-TextCAPSnum Type 1C yes yes yes 4 0
This implies it
is a custom-designed face...
This newsgroup post seems to back up that assumption, but still doesn't provide much information on availability / licensing.
EDIT: Should have checked the
wiki
Quote:
"...in 1999, SGI announced a new logo — simply the letters "sgi" in a stylized lowercase font — which drew criticism for wasting the professional goodwill associated with the previous box-outline logo. The new logo was a proprietary typeface called "SGI", created by branding and design consulting firm Landor Associates, in collaboration with designer Joe Stitzlein."
Anyone have more info?
