Dantes Peak has some good shots of SGI hardware, however they put tape over the logo. I noticed that after SGI has made MANY appearences in movies the next thing I noticed were movies with lots of SGI's with tape covering the name on the monitors. Its almost like they intended to use sgi in the shot but at the last minute decided to cover it up... maybe sgi wated too much $$$ to show the logo...

Another flick is "through the eyes of forust gump" the making of. The first time I saw it, there appeared to be a black indigo2 with the beige GDM20D11 monitor with the stenciled logo on the bottom corner of the monitor.

Given SGI's record, they probably sicced the lawyers on the movie guys, threatening to sue them for taking the glorious SGI name in vain

I have even noticed that they were taping over the SGI logos in some making of movies as well as photos seen in some CGI magazines.

hello,
today im writing to see if anyone has seen SGI machines used in any other movies from the 90s. I ask because until today, I had not noticed that there were TONS of them in the movie Jerry Mcguire, the office he worked in had tons of them (the first time I noticed it was when he was at his desk and the monitor had the "SILICON * GRAPHICS" across the front of it) and in the office setting I could identify one blue slab. later on, when they are in the "home office", he also has one, with the blue slab on the desk behind the machine, half buried in papers. the credits also make a mention of silicon graphics, along with the logo. I know Jurassic park had them as well, along with twister (the infamous SGI "laptop" that wasnt..) but other than those three, has anyone spotted any others? just goes to show what machines were big in hollywood at the time....

Nope, not it.

I think you're talking about How to Make a Monster. I saw the first few minutes but got bored and turned it off. Didn't know I missed out on seeing SGI machines though...

While watching random stuff on cable this morning, I noticed that in "First Kid" the kid has an SGI Indy with a granite monitor on his desk:

He uses it pretty extensively in the film.

They have Indigo2s in the operations center:

That's one of the corniest things I've ever seen. House arrest? That's funny.

Watched Eraser ( http://us.vdc.imdb.com/title/tt0116213/ ) , and when they drug Arnie in the plane, there's a computer screen showing 4dwm window and some widgets. Im not sure if there are any more of that stuff, because i was too bored to finish that movie... (it would horrible to wake up some day and hear someone say "your hard disk has been erased!")

Anyway here is my contribution. Pics of IRIX and Hitachi monitors from the movie Chain Reaction

And just in case anyone didn't already notice it. IRIX (and possibly an SGI machine) can be seen in the 1993 movie Sliver

Why cant we do this on our machines is there a way to get this?

I think the most recently made movie I've seen with SGI hardware in it was "Breach" (2007). I remember seeing a couple of racks of O2000's when Ryan Phillippe and Chris Cooper were walking through a machine room in the FBI (or was it CIA?) building. I was in the theater and I made a little tiny cheer when I saw that. Luckily there weren't many people there, otherwise I'm sure I would have drawn lots of stares :-D

Latest episode of NCIS. Spotted SGI 1600SW in the lower right corner. Colors on it are a bit yellow I think.

hmm watched this last night but I guess I didn't pay close enough attention :P I was concentrating on the McGeek. Is the one next to it also a 1600sw? I'll have to watch for it next week.
