SGI O2 Skins

Unread postby praetor242 » Tue Mar 07, 2017 5:28 pm

My O2 was destroyed in shipment and needs an entire new set of skins. Including a base, but if you have a base, talk to Raion-Fox since he's been needing one first and O2 skins don't grow on trees. Sadly...they do not. :(

K. Thx. Bai

The problem with ordering from Ian is he's in the UK and shipping is horrendous! I just mailed off an amateur radio to a buddy and that alone was $20!

Depends how much the skins weigh. Ian lists US shipping costs for under 2kg packages at about £35. It might be worth dropping him an e-mail just to see as he does change couriers from time to time, so I'm not sure how up-to-date it'll be.

Of course, if you find a set in the US, it'll likely be cheaper, but it's still an option!

So I just bought another O2 off ebay for $99. I calculated what it would cost from Ian, and it was more than just buying a cheap machine off eBay. So, I'll have 2 O2s. Maybe recondition both of them and have an O2 couple <3

Yeah. I asked the seller to package it good. It's coming FedEx, so that's marginally better. I talked to Ian and he has lots of skins, but shipping 85 UKP. It seems like he's the only one with a supply of them. I e-mail Acronym here in Dallas, and he hasn't gotten back to me. So I think I did well to snatch up that machine on eBay.

Thanks for all your help, boys! You guys rock :D

Yeah. But I didn't have much of a say. I prefer UPS. I've never had a problem with them. But god damnit it all if USPS is not just the WORST!

UPS around here throws packages. So I don't do them when possible.

I think you gamble using any of 'em. USPS is by far the worst. I've never had a problem with UPS and I haven't shipped with FedEx alot, so not sure about them. What I have gotten hasn't been destroyed, so there's that.

Dude, I can't believe UPS throws packages. Never happened.
I have more than one thousand parcels per year handled by UPS
worldwide, and the failure rate is around zero.

praetor242 wrote:USPS is by far the worst

I have ~ one hundred purchases per year from ebay dot com, the most of them (90%) go through USPS because ebay wants to use it for their international shipping service. So, I was said. BTW, up to now, the failure rate (measured from January 2016 to december 2016) is 9 of 98 parcels arrived damaged, and the maximal delay (including Customs Clearance) was 3 weeks.

Judging by these statistics, for me USPS is good for small packages. Mine were small size and less than 2Kg.

Do you want to see a true-shitty service ?

EcoParcel is so shitty that my parcel is still going around the whole France like if they were drunk.
From a warehouse in France to a warehouse in France.

I have already contacted the Customer Service Agent.

Mar. 04, 2017

I've contacted the depot again to deliver this today.
Sorry for all the delays.

Thank you!
Best Regards,
Liza

I believe the majority of people working at whatever shipping company are not evil. But they all have rotten apples, and you have to be prepared for the worst. Especially when shipping something as fragile as an O2.

Whenever I ship something, and I'm not sure whether my packaging is sufficient, I ask myself "would I dare to toss this out of a first floor window"?

My first O2 also had a piece broken off in transport (nothing major like this, but still). These days I own an R12K O2 and an R7K O2+ and I picked them up in person.
