WTB SGI Indy

Unread postby praetor242 » Sat Feb 25, 2017 5:47 pm

I really miss my old SGI systems and would like to get one. Perhaps an Indy. But eBay is so rapey.

If anyone has an Indy their willing to sell let me know. Or maybe an O2 if the price is right.

Thanks :)

Paging SiliconClassics

You should be looking at the 100-200 price range for a higher end one (I got my Acclaim Indy for $150, and that had a premium due to the software installed) a lower end one is probably a 50-75 range.

Some Indigo2 on eBay are reasonably priced, and some O2s as well. I got an O2 R12000 300MHz (Second best CPU it came with) for $90

Speaking of Indigo2, got a decent Indigo2 IMPACT(Max) for $175 US.

Speaking of greedy sellers on fleabay. There certainly are. Some them are very tight fisted and won't budge an inch on prices. On the other hand some of them are very accommodating and happy to do business with you.

I have a few Indy systems without rare software/art that should sell for normal prices, probably in the range of $100-$150. If you'd like to arrange a sale off-eBay, PM me and we'll work something out :)

I found an O2 on there for $99 I bought. Kinda taking a gamble on it, but I want this to be a project system I can tweak and stuff. So this makes me happy :D

I am also involved with him. He seems to be happy to get the business. Very accommodating.

Oh that's cool to hear. I like supporting local businesses and I'm sure I'm going to need upgrade parts.

Acronym has been selling SGI stuff on eBay for years - he's a great guy. You're in good hands.

Good luck finding an Indigo/Onyx/Crimson/PowerSeries mouse for much less. They've been expensive for years, I don't think they've ever been in the cheap mouse territory.

Special protocol. You can use bog standard PS/2 on Indy, I2, Onyx2 and so-on but before they used a special protocol that if you put a bog standard PS/2 in you will damage both peripherals. Similar to the Amiga 4000.

Now I'm concerned. I bought a granite mouse (to match the granite keyboard I bought). This is the mouse. It says it's PS/2
