To sale: IBM IntelliStation 285

Unread postby Shiunbird » Mon Apr 30, 2018 6:08 am

Hi guys,

My IntelliStation doesn't see as much use as it deserves, so I'm willing to let it go for 350 Euro (special Nekochan price), including the following upgrades:
- Ultrium 2 internal OEM tape device installed (I will include my tapes with it, not sure how many of them work).
- 8GB of brand new IBM RAM installed (the original 1GB is well boxed and will go along).
- 3x 72GB 15000 rpm disks installed.
- IBM Audio card included.
- Radeon 7000 flashed for PPC that works perfectly with Linux.
- Brand new CMOS battery and I will add an extra one to the package.
- IBM GXT 135p

I am the first owner, so the unit is in almost perfect state, and includes all documents, original packaging (including the plastics I think), IBM test CDs and pallet.
The unit supports AIX 5.3 to 7.1.

The caveat is: the post office won't take it. It is too big. So you have to either pick it up or arrange someone to take it.

It's a bargain compared to the prices on eBay. I'm not posting it there unless no one here shows interest. I'm in Prague, Czech Republic.

Edit: all about it on my youtube channel Shiunbird.

DHL would do, though. There's an office not far from my place.
I paid 185 Euro to have it shipped from the Netherlands when I bought it.

And of course, if you don't take the original box, then I could ship chassis separately from the power supply, hard drives and other accessories.

Going on eBay. Hopefully I will manage to sell it. These machines go for 2000 EUR, it's insane. I wonder who buys them.

It is already in the new home (I'm testing my FEA software on it at the moment). Many thanks!

Now I'm testing the Linux but I hope that I will be able to do the some thing under the AIX, too. It's surprisingly quiet (much quieter than my Octane and comparable with my R10k O2). But O2 is a tiny box and this monster has a massive dual-core CPU, three HDDs and more... And I still don't applied the silencing back cover.
