Trading my INDY (180MHz R5000) for an INDY (200 MHz R4400)

Unread postby Markus1201 » Fri Feb 09, 2018 2:11 am

Hello everyone!

I've got an R5K INDY and would like to trade it for one with a 200MHz R4400.
If someone is interested, please contact me. I'm located in Austria (Europe).

Also, if you have an INDY (200MHz R4400) for sale or know where to get one
for a reasonable price, please let me know.

all the best

Thank you very much Alex, but another nice fellow from Germany already sold me an R4400@200Mhz.
Now I have two as well, but I didn't came around to test which one is actually faster.
At least I got to install all that Nintendo64 stuff and it is almost working by now :)

all the best

The R5K/180SC is generally faster, but there's the occasional (perhaps irrelevant) exception such as DES. See my site:

http://www.sgidepot.co.uk/perfcomp.html

The R4K/200 can often beat the R5K/150PC though, not having the L2 really hurts.

Sometimes the R4K and R5K/180 are quite close, and if the R4K is in an Indigo2 then it can be slightly quicker (but then the R5K can get one heck of a bump when moving to O2, check out Movie Conversion 2 on the above page). Naturally, FP32 is where the R5K does better, though SGI's lack of a Z-board upgrade for XL kinda ruined this potential in Indy.

Hmm, I notice there are a fair few missing data points on my pages, I promise to try and fill in some blanks this year. :}
