non SGI related, tons of blade servers and cisco gear

Unread postby MrBill » Sat Jan 20, 2018 4:12 pm

Not sgi related, but i figured I would list some of this stuff here because it is quite new, compared to a lot of the older equipment I am used to working with. I am still cataloging it all, if you see anything of potential interest tell me and i can get some more info and pictures.

At the scrapyard, a large lot (32 pallets) of assorted office and data center gear came in today. Tons of cisco and non cisco routers, switches, you name it. Really to much to list. if you are in need of a switch or a router, i could set you up with a deal.

Tons of these hp blade servers. Sadly no backplane to test them all in, but all of witch are loaded with all 12 slots of either 8 or 16 gb ecc ddr3 memory.

Phones, ups's printers, you name it. If you are looking for anything, shoot me a message and i can get some pictures and a price your way.

The pallet jack broke this morning, so i had to carry all of the blade servers by hand to the other ide of the yard.It took all morning. they are in safe climate controlled condition. Floor space is limited, the other stuff, although valuable, will not last much longer where it is at, so I am trying to move as much of it as i can.

I'm in the market for a new switch, and if I could get a Cisco that would make me happy if the price is right.

Not many of my pictures came out clear, there is a big scratch in my camera.

I will go back on monday and take clear pictures. There is a piece of cisco gear new in the box, i cut the tape. I believe it was a switch, i will get back to you Monday with pictures.

Surplus / discount price, I will make sure that it fires up and has no password on it before sending it out.

Fibre channel arrays too. Not sure if i can get them to work with sgi equipment. I do not know what the connector on the back is or if it can be adapted to connect to my sgi onyx or octane. Last picture shows the connector. There are many of the arrays if someone else wants one too.

Those are SFP slots in your last pic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_for ... ransceiver

In short, they allow for the switches to be linked together via copper, fibre etc by plugging in the appropriate transceiver.

We used to have dozens of Cisco 3750s at work - they're good bits of kit!
Systems in use:
:Indigo2IMP: - Nitrogen: R10000 195MHz CPU, 384MB RAM, SolidIMPACT Graphics, 36GB 15k HDD & 300GB 10k HDD, 100Mb/s NIC, New/quiet fans, IRIX 6.5.22
:Fuel: - Lithium: R14000 600MHz CPU, 4GB RAM, V10 Graphics, 72GB 15k HDD & 300GB 10k HDD, 1Gb/s NIC, New/quiet fans, IRIX 6.5.30
Other system in storage: :O2: R5000 200MHz, 224MB RAM, 72GB 15k HDD, PSU fan mod, IRIX 6.5.30

Can that be used with a octane or a onyx with a fibre channel card? The card i have in my machines has 2 9 pin db9 connectors on the back of it.

The arrays are loaded with 450 Gb disks.

Yes, they should work, you need a cable like this: https://www.datastoragecables.com/fibre ... db09/#pic1
The array will negotiate down to the speed of the HBA. Most XIO HBAs were either 1 or 2 Gb/s.
Try to look inside the connectors on the array and count the pins: HSSDC (1) has 8 pins, HSSDS2 has only 7.

What kind of pricing do you need out of the Cisco switches?
