Before you bid on that system, be sure to check out this system on eBay US listed at a reasonable bid level, and even with shipping outside the US it could work out a lot cheaper.

It has original plastics, not a lookalike paint job like the one you are considering. There are some scuffs/corrosion and it is probably a lower spec, but the potential difference in price would go a long way towards a second donor system for a cleaner chassis, and upgrades like graphics, RAM, network card etc.

Its entirely your call... there is no need to defend your choice of bidding on that first system over another or exuberantly debate its relative merits over all other SGI systems in the world. I just thought I'd mention this second option before you or anybody else bids on that first one.

Repainting? is that really a thing? it's doesn't really look like the original colour - I would prefer a few scuffs and scrapes I think. Maybe the pictures are deceptive though.

I know one thing for sure - that is a really awful pattern in the bed/table it is displayed on!

By agreement of several moderators and following complaints from several users, for reasons of trolling, deliberately posting off-topic, posting under false pretenses, insulting language use, outright lying and, yet again, violating forum rules, just like the first time:

quinn is banned.

I take it no-one on this forum needs any further explanation.

ivelegacy / Y888099 / quinn, let me make this perfectly clear: You are not welcome here.
